REGULATOR
  • Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) – for investments firms and funds, corporate (administrative) service providers.
  • Central Bank of Cyprus – for credit institutions.
  • European Central Bank – ECB is the head bank regulator in the EU, but it may act indirectly, through the national Central Bank.
LEGISLATION

EU banking (Basel III, CRD IV), financial (PSD2, PSR, EMR) and AML (4th AML Directive) legislation. The relevant national legislation consists of the Prevention and Suppression of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law, the Directive regarding the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, the Law on Companies providing Administrative Services and Related Matters, the Credit Business Law (implementing CRD IV).
